avedon & the work week

one thing i've realized this summer is that it is really hard to keep a good blog when all you do is wake up, go to work, go home, go to sleep, wake up -- you get the picture. i've been working a six day a week, 51 hour work week. the money is good and i feel like i'm getting things done, but i do feel a little brain dead from the whole thing. i did get a chance to get my motivation back a little last weekend when i took my dad to SFMOMA for his birthday. we went to the richard avedon exhibit and it pretty much blew my mind. i have always been interested in portraits, but this exhibit made me want to take shit up a notch in a serious way. i've started using my dad's old "clack" camera for kicks and toying around with other plastic cameras. i also found a photo class i can take in providence before my job starts. totally something to look forward to. so, if you want to get you picture taken, come model for me sometime!

also, i've finally started assembly a long overdue project combining writing, photos, collage and a few personal drawings. it should be done within the next few weeks -- my projects have been moving slowly these days.

in about two weeks i'll be chillin' hard with gary & chelsea, riding my bike around a new town and figuring my shit out. here's to a new life! -- now back to work.

eyes open

it suddenly struck me -- i am so excited about my life. i had completely forgotten how amazing things are right now. new job, new city, new adventures, new haircut, new apartment (same great roommate) and a whole new outlook on projects. things are currently very static for me, living at home in a sort of friendless, all work oriented world. and everyone knows, returning to your parents house can refresh you, or set you into a full-on, high-school like funk. currently i've been feeling both.

in less than a month i get to paint my room, paint my floor, unpack my things and relearn a whole new place.
i have only one project i'm trying to focus on for the next few weeks and i hope to see some real progress on it.

seriously, isn't life kind of awesome?
